Nannie L Strohmaier

Nannie L. Strohmaier, age 84, of Oquawka, Illinois passed away at her Oquawka residence on September 28, 2012 at 6:30 pm. Nannie was born on August 21, 1928 in Defiance, Missouri and is the daughter of Joseph and Elsie Howell Link. She was raised in Defiance, MO and attended local schools and graduated from Howell High School with the class of 1946. Nannie first was married to Rollin Wilkins on December 21, 1966 in Galesburg, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on September 30, 1976. She later was married to William F. Strohmaier on December 3, 1966 in Galesburg, Illinois and he is surviving. Nannie first was employed as waitress at the Steak & Shake in Galesburg, IL and later at "The Huddle" restaurant also in Galesburg, IL. She last worked at Ferris Moving and Storage in Galesburg as a packer. Nannie is a very active member of the Oquawka Eagles Aerie, the Moose Lodge in Galesburg, and the Eastern Star. Nannie like bowling and bowled in leagues at the Galesburg lanes, and Country Fun in Biggsville, IL. She loved to go out on the river, and most of all loved her family. Surviving is her husband William Strohmaier of Oquawka, IL and six daughters Karen Whited of Virginia Beach, VA., Cheryl (Michael) Fergusson and Sharon Wilkins both of Galesburg, IL, Linda (Dale) Steward of Woodhull, IL, Brenda (Fred) Stewart of Oquawka, IL, Pamela (Jay) Lytle of Knoxville, IL, and Lori ( Roger) Eklund of Knoxville, IL. Two sons survive Matthew Wilkins of Woodhull, IL and Bruce Strohmaier of Tyner, Kentucky. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. One sister survives Marlene James in Pensacola, FL. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Phelan and Joe, two sisters Marie and Vera, one daughter Cheryl and one son Gary. Services:A memorial service is planned on Friday,October 5, 2012 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois at 10:30 am. Cremation has been accorded. Fellowship at the Eagles Aerie will follow the service. Interment of her ashes will be at a later date.
