Neva S. Hernandez, age 62, of Gladstone, passed way at 12:05 p.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at her residence. She was born on December 9, 1946, in Oquawka, Illinois, the daughter of Lyle and Barbara Parrish Keever. She was reared and educated in Gladstone and graduated from Union High School in 1965. Neva was first married to Robert W. Pierce, she later married Gonzalo Hernandez, he survives. Neva first worked as a CNA at the Henderson County Health Department. She later was employed at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington as a CNA. She enjoyed flowers and working in her garden. Neva most of all enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her father, Lyle Keever of Gladstone, one sister Dixie Boughton and Joe of Oquawka, Illinois. Tthree sons; Robert Pierce Jr., Tony Pierce both of Oquawka, and John Hernandez of Biggsville. One daughter Nicky Hernandez of New London, Iowa, one granddaughter Haley Pierce, and one grandson Noah Pierce. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, mother, and one brother. Services:A graveside committal service for her ashes will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2009, at the Oquawka Cemetery. Cremation has been accorded. No calling hours or visitation is being planned. Her family will receive friends following the graveside service at the home of Dixie and Joe Boughton, Third and Clay in Oquawka. A memorial fund will be established at a later date. Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka is in charge of the arrangements.
