Obituary

Nicole Lynn Hull, 43, of Oquawka, Illinois, died unexpectedly at home, Monday, June 1, 2026 at 9:45 p.m.

Nicole was born November 6, 1982 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Freeman G. and Susan K. (Tonding) Rhodes. Nicole was educated in St. Louis area schools and went on to earn two separate criminal justice degrees both in Iowa and Illinois.

Nicole married Bradley W. Hull on October 22, 2016 in Burlington, Iowa. Brad survives of Oquawka as do her children, Hanna (Jake) Kisner of Bettendorf, Iowa, Sara (Corey Storm) Hull of Oquawka, Scott Eberhard of Viola, Illinois, Jacob (Nichelle) Hull of Sciota, Illinois, and Conner (Alexia) Meode of Stronghurst, Illinois; and 9 grandchildren, Ayden, Olivia, Brantley, Erica, Jimmy, Harper, Lillian, Kylen, and Ryker. Nicole is also survived by her Dad, Rob Girdner of Catawissa, Missouri; her siblings, David Rhodes and Robert Girdner both of Catawissa and Patty (Burk) Lipford of House Springs, Missouri; her ride or die, Christy Callahan of Hillsboro, Missouri; a dear friend, Rose (Ed) Garner; and her beloved dog, Kyla May. Nicole was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Izayah Schonlau on February 19, 2019.

Nicole had spent the last several years working as a caregiver for her husband Brad. She had a strong Christian faith, attending Faith Bible Church in Oquawka. Nicole could be best described as a very loving person who would give anyone the shirt off her back and always put others first. She will be long remembered for her great wisdom, generous heart, and gave the world’s best hugs. She had a deep and caring soul. Most of all, Nicole was proud of her family, and her grandchildren were her world, giving them all unconditional love.

Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of Nicole’s life will be at Crapo Park, Burlington, Iowa. Times will be announced. Arrangements have been entrusted to Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Oquawka, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Brad Hull.
