Nile B. Olson, age 77, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at Genesis Medical Center East in Davenport, IA. Nile was born February 28, 1935 in Oquawka, Illinois and is the son of Ralph and " Ma " Flora Peterson Olson. Nile was raised in Oquawka, where he attended local schools and graduated from G & O High School. He then attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL on a Football and Basketball Scholarship. Nile is also a veteran serving in the Army in Korea and attaining the rank of Spec 9. Nile married Donna M. Brent on March 15, 2008 in Oquawka, Illinois and she is surviving. He was previously married to Marilyn James who passed away on September 26, 2003. Nile first worked for the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant in Middletown Iowa as a government inspection supervisor for a number of years. He then worked for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers at Lock and Dam 18 as a lockman until his retirement in 1997. He is a member of the Oquawka Eagles Aerie and the Oquawka Masonic Lodge. He attended Faith Bible Church. Nile loved the Mississippi River and fishing. For many years he fried fish at both the Republican and Democratic fish fries, and other community events. He enjoyed hunting and Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and named many of them " Buffy Sue ". Nile is an avid gardener which he did at his home in Oquawka, and an avid sports fan of the University of Illinois, Chicago Bears and Cubs, and the local West Central High School Sport. Nile is survived by his wife Donna Olson of Oquawka, and son Forrest "Forddy" (Pat) Olson of Silver City, New Mexico. One step daughter Diane (Randy) Weyer of Solon, IA, one granddaughter Jennifer Olson in Champagne, IL, one step grandson Fred (Jenny) Walters of Iowa City, IA, and one step great granddaughter Nora Walters. He is preceded in his death by his parents, his wife, six sisters, and five brothers. Services:A memorial service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday October 24, 2012 at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, IL. Cremation is being accorded. His family plans visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday for the hour prior to the service, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Memorial funds are being established for either West Central Athletic Boosters or Faith Bible Church in Oquawka, Illinois.
