Olive V. Bailey, age 92, of Oquawka, Illinois passed away at the Blair House Hospice in West Burlington, Iowa on May 25, 2013 at 4:05 am. Olive was born on December 31, 1920 in Biggsville, Illinois and is the daughter of Cavart and Zella Milligan Bigger. She was reared and educated in the South Henderson community, where she attended rural school and the Gladstone High School. She graduated from Biggsville High School with the class of 1938. Olive married Clyde W. Bailey on November 20, 1940 in Biggsville, Illinois and he preceded her on September 8, 2003. Olive was a farm wife and assisted her husband Clyde in their farming operations in Henderson County for many years. She always was active on community committees and affairs. Olive and Clyde for a number of years purchased and lived in the former Henderson County Home, just outside of Oquawka, IL. Olive loved to play the piano and the organ and played church services, weddings, and funerals extensively in the Henderson County area. She for a number of years was active in the Oquawka United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Henderson County "Red Hat Society" Olive loved to work and tend to her garden and loved flowers. She was " Irish " through and through. Surviving are two daughters Beverly (Joe) Zielke of Little York, IL and Barbara (Darrell) Lathrop of Oquawka, IL. Two sons survive, Gary (Janice) Bailey of Oquawka, IL and Chuck (Gayle) Bailey of Oquawka, IL. Nine grandchildren, Lisa (Scott) Sloan, Roger (Stephanie) Zielke, Tom (Susan) Zielke, Tim (Susie) Zielke, Michele(Chad) Hallgren, Michael (Tania) Lathrop, Rebekah Bailey, Leah (Brian) Furness, and Kyle (Becca) Bailey. There are sixteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, grandson, Gary "Bud" Bailey II, and three brothers, and one sister Services:A funeral service is planned on at 10:30 am on Thursday May 30, 2013 at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Interment will be in the Oquawka Cemetery. Her family plans a visitation on Wednesday evening at Turnbulls with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A memorial fund is being established for the Oquawka Ambulance Fund.
