Pauline M. Shoemaker

Pauline M. Shoemaker, age 96, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 6:55 pm on December 26, 2018 at the Roseville Nursing and Rehab Center in Roseville, Illinois. Pauline was born on April 17, 1922 in rural Monmouth, Illinois and is the daughter of John Alven and Lavinia Elizabeth Troxel Miller. Pauline was educated in the rural schools of Warren County and graduated from Monmouth High School. She married Warren W. Shoemaker on January 9, 1942 in New London, Missouri and he preceded her in death on September 30, 1989. Pauline was a homemaker and raised her family, and was secretary for Fairview Center Church for a number of years. She later was secretary for the Warren County Farm Bureau for a time. Pauline was known as a seamstress doing Bridal Dresses locally and alterations with other garments locally. Later Pauline was trained as an upholsterer and did upholstery work. She is survived by her daughters, Margaret Vaughn and Sid of Oquawka, Illinois and Dorothy Gaines (Christopher) of Aurora, Illinois. There are two sons, Scott Shoemaker of Monmouth, Illinois and Dan Shoemaker of Davenport, Iowa. Three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren are also surviving. There are also a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives surviving. Pauline is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, one sister, and four brothers. A funeral service for Pauline M. Shoemaker is planned at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment will be in the Monmouth Cemetery. Her family plans a visitation and will receive their friends at Turnbulls from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service. A memorial fund is being established for Fairview Center United Methodist Church.
