Phillip R. Moore, age 67, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 4:57 pm on November 21, 2013 at Bounce Back Nursing and Rehab in Galesburg, Illinois. Phillip was born on June 10, 1946 in Monmouth and is the son of Robert S. and Lois J. Kettering Moore. Phillip was raised in Roseville where he attended school and graduated from Roseville High School in 1964. He then attended the University of Illinois graduating in 1968 and attained a bachelors degree in Agriculture. While in college, he was also active in R.O.T.C. and served in the Army Air Defense six years. Phillip proudly served his country as a 1st Lt. in the United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. He married Lana K. Vail on May 4, 1973 in Swan Creek, Illinois and she preceded him in death on March 27, 1992. He later married Betty Jane Smith Nelson on July 11, 1995 in Roseville, Illinois and she is surviving. Phil began farming with his father on the family farm, which he did for twenty-nine years. During this time he married and raised a family and was an active father. He began with I D S Financial Services which then became Ameriprise. Phil took the Series Seven Exam and became certified and a member of the Association of Certified Financial Planners. In later years Phil has become involved in Real Estate and rejuvenating old properties. Phil sold and retired from the investment world a few years ago. He was active in the Warren County Farm Bureau, was an Antique tractor enthusiast, and loved hunting and Work. He is survived by his wife Betty J. Moore of Monmouth, Illinois; daughters, Candy (Tab) Conard of Monmouth, IL; and Rhonda DeWeese of Galesburg, IL. His sons, Shawn (Jennifer) Scott of Avon, IL.; Thad ( Susan) Moore of Monmouth, IL.; and Wesley DeWeese of Atlanta, Georgia. There are nine grandchildren He is survived by one sister, Peggy (David) Bitterman in Massachusetts; and two brothers, Ronald and Deb Moore and Larry and Margaret Moore, both of Roseville, Illinois. There are also a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives surviving. He is preceded in his death by his parents, first wife, and his daughter in law. Services:A funeral service is planned at Fairview Center United Methodist Church on Tuesday November 26, 2013 at 10:00 am. His family plans visitation at Turnbull Funeral Home with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday the evening before. Interment will be in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery following the funeral service. A memorial fund is being established for Fairview Center United Methodist Church.
