Phyllis T. Minneman

Phyllis Theresa Minneman, age 90, went to her heavenly Father at 9:40 pm on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Heartland Manor Care Center in Paxton, Illinois. She was born on August 1, 1923 in Rock Island, Illinois, the daughter of William Edgar and Mabel Harriet (Jacobsen) Fowler. She attended Law School in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1942. Phyllis married LeRoy Fred Minneman on July 14, 1950 at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Monmouth. Together they had two children, William Leroy Minneman, who died within days of his birth, and Betty Jo Minneman. Phyllis was one of the oldest members of Immanuel Baptist Church in Monmouth, Illinois. Her relationship with the Lord was the cornerstone of her life and she welcomed her trip home to her creator. She held various jobs in Monmouth from working at the Triple A office, Telephone Company, and being a dental assistant before her marriage. After marrying Leroy, she concentrated on being a wife, mother, homemaker, and bookkeeper for a used car business they operated in Laharpe for many years. Phyllis was a loyal friend, took pride in taking excellent care of her family, and was always willing to help anyone however she could. She is survived by her husband, Leroy, her daughter, Betty Jo, her sister, Shirley Walker of Silvis, Illinois, and two sisters-in-law; Ilene (Jim) Deskins and Gean Minneman. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, brother Bill, numerous Aunts and Uncles, and her infant son. Services:A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Friends may call Tuesday at the funeral home until the time of service. Internment will follow the service at Monmouth Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the Immanuel Baptist Church in Monmouth or the Alzheimer's Association.
