Phyllis M. Stewart, age 93, of Gladstone, Illinois; passed away at 4:50 am on April 4, 2012 at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst, IL. Phyllis was born on July 24, 1918 in Gladstone, Illinois and is the daughter of Smith E. and Donzella M. Furnald Morris. She was raised in Gladstone and attended local schools and the Gladstone High School. Phyllis married Earl K. Stewart on July 4, 1935 in Gladstone, Illinois and he preceded her in death on January 1985. Phyllis first was employed at the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant in Middletown, Iowa. Later she was co-owner of Stewart's Pheasant Farm in Gladstone, IL. Later on she drove the van for the Henderson County Senior Citizens and did so over twenty years. Phyllis was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing and spending time at the river. She enjoyed bingo, cards, and the game of Bunco. She always enjoyed camping with the relatives. Surviving is her daughter Joyce Meloan of Gladstone, Illinois; four granddaughters, Dana Holford of Palm Coast, FL; Connie Perry of Gladstone, IL; Dawn McSorley of Mt.Pleasant, IA; and Shelly Rhoades of Ft. Madison, IA.; two grandsons, Chris Stewart of Denmark, IA; and Darren Stewart of Gladstone, IL. There are thirteen great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Harold, and a brother Walter. Services:A graveside service will be at 11:00 am on Monday April 9th at the Oquawka Cemetery. Her family plans visitation with the family present for an hour prior to the graveside from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Monday at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, IL. A memorial fund is established for either the Gladstone Fire Department or the Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab.
