Polly Ann Johnson

Polly Ann Johnson, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 4:35 am on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, Illinois. Polly was born on October 21, 1921 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the daughter of Edward "E.A" and Ethel Wise Martin. Polly attended local schools and graduated from Monmouth High School in the class of 1939. She then attended Monmouth College for two years and was active in Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.. Polly married Carl W. Johnson in January 20, 1946 in Monmouth, Illinois and he passed away on December 2, 2012. Polly is a homemaker and mother to her family. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Monmouth and its Ladies Circle, Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, P E O, and the Monmouth Garden Club. She loved to garden, shopping, shopping for antiques, golfing, and needlepoint. Polly also loved to travel, wintering in Arizona, cooking, especially Swedish Cuisine. Most of all she loved her friends and first of all doing for her family. Surviving Polly are her children, David (Carol) Johnson of Decatur, Illinois; Rebecca (Joe) Carlson of Monmouth, Illinois and Jon (Kristine) Johnson of Tampa, Florida. There are ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren and a niece Linda May (David) Miller of Macomb, Illinois. She was preceded by her parents, husband and sister, Joan Martin. Services:A memorial service will be on Thursday March 28, 2013 at 10:30 am at the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth. Cremation has been accorded. Interment of ashes will follow her memorial service in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday March 27,2013 with family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Turnbull in Monmouth,IL. Memorial fund has been established for the Warren County Library and the First United Methodist Church.
