R. Joanne Adams

R. JoAnne Adams, age 82, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, Illinois on May 1, 2018 at 11:55 pm. JoAnne was born on March 15, 1936 in Fairbury, Illinois and is the daughter of John and Jessie Irene Jordan Pingel. JoAnne was raised and attended public schools in Fairbury and graduated from Fairbury High School with the class of 1954. She was married to Pastor Robert N. Adams on March 9, 1963 in Clarksville, Tennessee and he preceded her in death on October 6, 2013. JoAnne loved to cook and was the head cook at Oak Lane Nursing Home in Stronghurst, IL for many of years. She also was a line cook at the "Holiday" in Burlington, Iowa for a number of years. She later owned and operated with her husband, the restaurant in Roseville, Illinois for four years. Lastly she was a Certified Nurses Assistant at the LaMoine Christian Nursing Home in the 1970's. Surviving her are four daughters, Judy (Jeff) Johnson of Oquawka, IL; Barbara (James) "Slim" McGann of Oquawka, IL.; Jo Bailey of Gladstone, IL; Janet Havens (Tom Deweese) Creve Coeur, IL. There are three sons, Jerry Adams of Peoria, IL; Robert N. (Gertrude) Adams Jr. of Bamberg, Germany; and Robert J. (Tracy) Adams of Macomb, IL. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. One brother survives, Robert Mulligan in the state of Florida. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, one grandson Mark, two brothers, five sisters, and two son in laws, Jerry Bailey and Troy Havens. A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Her family plans visitation on Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral service. A memorial fund is being established and will be designated at a later date.
