Robert Paul Carner, age 60, of Caledonia, Illinois and formerly of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away suddenly at Beloit Memorial Hospital in Beloit, Wisconsin on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 10:26 AM. Paul was born June 11, 1956 in Monmouth, Illinois, and is the son of James and Eunice (Green) Carner. He graduated from Union High School 1974, and Western Illinois University. He was very proud that he soloed on his 16th birthday, and obtained his private pilot license on his 17th birthday. During college, his father owned Rozetta Crop Service and Paul helped his father operate the business. After college graduation he flew for corporations and regional airlines. In 1980 he married Nancy Blake. In 1985 he continued his career with United Airlines, and at the time of his death he was an International 747 Captain. He was an active member of the Air Line Pilot Association, and was chairman of their Family Awareness Program in recent years. Paul owned and operated Aerial Applications, LLC out of the Monmouth Airport, until it was acquired by LesCo Aviation. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Caledonia, IL and daughters, Elizabeth "Beth" and Susan. His mother survives, Eunice Carner of Rozetta, IL and his brother, John (Linda) Carner. There are also numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews. A host of his friends and aviation enthusiast are also surviving. Visitation Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 AM on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Funeral Service A funeral service is planned for 11:00 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Cremation will then be accorded. His family will have lunch and fellowship with friends at Rozetta Baptist Church. In Lieu of flowers, the family would like to establish a memorial fund for aviation education which they will arrange.
