Ralph C. Mesick

Ralph C. Mesick, age 77, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at the Roseville Nursing and Rehab Center in Roseville, IL on Sunday, September 14, 2014. Ralph was born on April 23, 1937 in Macomb, Illinois and is the son of Charles C. and Bessie V. Cline Mesick. He was raised in Macomb where he attended local schools and the Macomb High School. He married Betty Lou Johnson on April 24, 1959 in Monmouth, Illinois and she is surviving. Ralph began work as an apprentice plumber at Western Illinois University in Macomb. After moving to Monmouth, he was employed by Daryl Davies at Davies Junk Yard for a time. He later began work at Auto Acres in the Quad Cities where he worked until 1972. He then worked in the Monmouth area as a private contractor up until the present. He always was a father for his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, football, and working with tools and woodworking. He is survived by his wife, Betty Mesick of Monmouth, Illinois and his daughter, Terri (Martin) Shawler of Monmouth, Illinois, his granddaughter, Michelle (Doug) Corsaro and grandson, Thomas (Courtney) Miller, both of Monmouth, Illinois. There are four great grandchildren, Ty, Samuel, Brooklyn, and Maximus surviving. Three sisters survive, Virginia Hocker of Macomb, IL and Janice Smith and Jane Ausmus, both of Galena, Illinois. A number of other relatives also survive. He is preceded in his death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery. His family plans a visitation with their family present receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 17, at Turnbull Funeral Home of Monmouth, IL A memorial fund is being established in his memory and will be designated at a later date.
