Randy W. Romine, age 64, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at his Monmouth residence on Saturday November 24, 2012 at 2:55 pm. Randy was born on February 23, 1948 in Galesburg, Illinois and is the son of Keith W. and Helen B. Sands Romine. Randy was raised and educated in Monmouth and attended Monmouth Schools and graduated from Monmouth High School in the class of 1966. While in high school he was a member of the popular rock band "The Misfits" Randy then attended college at Missouri College in Brentwood, Missouri.and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Illinois, and at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, Illinois. Randy served his country in the Army during Viet Nam. Randy was married previously to Deany Coursey. He later married Annie L. Swanson Martin on September 4, 1982 in Galesburg, Illinois and she is surviving. Randy first was employed as a mental health technician at Galesburg Research Hospital for a number of years. He then worked for Schwan's Food Company as a driver, then was a trainer, training employees for Schwans. Randy later was sales manager for Schwans in McChesney Park, Illinois and later in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Lastly Randy worked as a carpenter with Paul Lydic for several years until his retirement in 2012. Randy is a member of the Marion B. Fletcher Post 136 American Legion and the J.W. Clendenin Post 2301 Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a member of the Military Honor Guard. Randy is a member and Elder of the Gerlaw Christian Church, he is also an avid sports enthusiast namely the "Bears", ":Cubs", Denver "Broncos", and the "Fighting Illini" Randy loved to garden and do yard work. He was known for making trelaces, and constructing outdoor decks. Randy was a fan of German Sheppard dogs. Most of all he was known as the "Best Grandpa of All". Surviving Randy is his wife Annie L. Romine of Monmouth, Illinois, and two sons Jason K. Romine of North Hollywood, CA. and J.P. (Lisa) Martin of Centennial, CO. There are two daughters Debi (Kelly) Martin of Galesburg, IL and Kim Jackson of Colorado Springs, CO. Grandchildren Kyle, Nicholas, and Jake Martin. and his sister Kris(Doug)Smith of Bonita Beach, FL. A number of nieces and nephews also are surviving. He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Gary and Robert. Services:A funeral service with military honors will be at 2:00pm on Thursday November 29, 2012 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Cremation will then be accorded. His family plans visitation with the family present to receive friends at the funeral home from Noon to 2:00pm prior to the service on Thursday. Memorial funds are being established for either the Gerlaw Christian Church or the military honor guard.
