Raymond L. Fogarty, 93, Monmouth, formerly of Biggsville passed away at 3:15 p.m., Sunday, June 20, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Galesburg with his daughter Patti by his side. Ray was born September 16, 1916 in St. Augustine in the family home, the son of Louis Patrick Fogarty and Mary Kennedy Fogarty. Ray was employed his entire lifetime as a farmer, an occupation which he dearly loved. He was married to Ruth Miller in 1962 and they had one child, Patricia Rae. They divorced in 1964 and Raymond devoted much of his life to being a father. Ray enjoyed dancing, visiting with friends, raising cattle, mowing his yard, attending his daughter's activities and in later years hearing about and seeing his three grandsons. Raymond attended St. Andrews Catholic Church in Oquawka and in later years Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth. He was a patient, caring parent, grandparent, uncle, brother and friend. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Dabney of Driftwood, TX, three grandsons Kale Fogarty Dabney 15, Lake Kennedy Dabney 14, and Pearson Jack Dabney 10, a step daughter Aine DeJaynes of Abingdon and a stepson Tony Farrell of St. Louis, Missouri as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his parents, three sisters, Philomena Higgins, Louise Best and an infant sister. Services:A Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday June 23, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church of Monmouth. A rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at Turnbull Funeral Home where his family will receive friends following the rosary. Interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for Monmouth College.
