Raymond C. Jensen, age 87, passed away at 7:50 p.m., Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois. Raymond was born on June 19, 1920 in Berwick, Illinois. He is the son of Hans Jessen and Anna Christina Jensen. Raymond was reared and educated in the Gerlaw area, and attended Center School in Spring Grove Township. He graduated from Alexis High School in 1938. Raymond served his country During World War II, He was a Staff Sargent in the United States Air Corp. He saw action in Ie Shima, and the Philippine Islands in the South Pacific. Raymond married Kathryn V. Simmons on January 24, 1949, in Roseville, Illinois, she survives. Raymond farmed grain and livestock all his life in the Spring Grove Township on his families farm. He was a member of the Warren County Farm Bureau, James Harvey Scott American Legion Post 0189, and served as a township trustee for a number of years. He was a long time member of the Gerlaw Christian Church, serving as Deacon and served as Chairman of the board at one time. Raymond was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He enjoyed bowling many years in the Farm Bureau League. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and being on the farm. Surviving Raymond is his wife, Kathryn V. Jensen of Galesburg, one daughter, Susan Dehority and Bill of Oneida, Illinois, two sons; Greg Jensen and Connie of Galesburg, and Ron Jensen of Bethesda, Maryland. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Kelly Jensen, Allen Dehority, Kristin Dehority, one sister, Marian Gardner of Gerlaw, and two brothers; Paul Jensen of Alexis, Illinois, and Lorence Jensen and Shirley of Monmouth. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Preceding Raymond in death are his parents, one infant daughter, and one infant brother. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. His family will be present to receive friends Wednesday evening, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Turnbulls in Monmouth. A memorial fund is being established for the Gerlaw Christian Church or to Community Hospices of America.
