Rebecca A. Bowton

Rebecca Ann Bowton, 76, of Galesburg, Illinois, died peacefully with her family by her side, Friday, January 2, 2026 at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, Illinois.

Becky was born June 5, 1949 in Galesburg, the daughter of Carl William and Velma Marie (Delawder) Theobald. She married Kent E. Bowton on July 22, 1967 in Galesburg. Becky is survived by her husband of 58 years, Kent of Galesburg; two sons, Britt Bowton of Galesburg and Eric (Niki) Bowton of Galesburg; one daughter, Cathy Bowton of Galesburg; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Becky is also survived by one brother, Ronald (Darlys) Theobald of Cameron, Illinois; three nieces; and three nephews. Along with her parents, Becky was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Theobald; and one brother, Frank Theobald.

In her early working years, Becky worked at Arlen’s and W.T. Grant both in Galesburg, before embarking on a 22 year career at Wal-Mart. Becky retired on May 16, 2007. In her free time, Becky enjoyed crafts, shopping throughout the Scenic Drive, and helping others as often as she could. She had a kind, loving, caring, and giving heart. Becky never let her disability define her or slow her down. Most of all, Becky loved spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2026 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate.
