Richard R. Lucas

Richard Ross Lucas, 53, of Galesburg, Illinois, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 12, 2025 at home.

Rich was born April 26, 1972 in Galesburg, the son of Larry Roscoe and Debra Marie (Darst) Lucas. Rich worked in construction for many years, later working for Blick Art Materials and Midstate Manufacturing.

Rich is survived by his companion of many years, Erica Bettisworth of Galesburg; four sons, Colton Lucas, Chase Lucas, Chandler Lucas, and Caige (Belle) Lucas all of Galesburg; one granddaughter, Mystic; and one stepbrother, Thomas Meyers. Rich is preceded in death by a daughter, Cierra Lucas; his mother and stepfather, Debra and Keith McKinney; and one brother, Eric McKinney.

Rich was mechanically inclined, a trait he passed on to his sons. He loved art, especially painting with an airbrush. Rich was also an avid music lover, especially artists from the 1960’s and 1970’s.

Cremation rites will be accorded. No services are planned. The family has entrusted Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in care of the funeral home.
