Richard E. "Saki" Morris, age 84, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at his Monmouth residence on July 11, 2013. Richard was born on January 22, 1929 in Keithsburg, Illinois, the son of Clyde and Ida (Pardee) Morris. He received his education in the Monmouth Public Schools. Richard married Pauline E. Smith on November 5, 1950 in Kirkwood, Illinois. He was employed with the Strands Baking Company from 1945-1959. Richard then served his Country during the Korean War in the United States Army, 5th Reg., 1st Cav. Division. Upon returning from his service, he worked in the construction industry for 32 years, retiring in 1991. Richard worked for Lewis Murphy for 20 years. "Saki" loved to deer hunt and fish. He cherished time with his family and grandchildren. He always looked forward to a good day of work and keeping active. Richard is survived by his wife Pauline; his son, Terry (Jill) Morris of Monmouth; his daughter, Penny (Toby) Stephenson of Monmouth; granddaughters Tracey (Rick) Williams, Krista (John) Lenover, and Megan (Jason) Cook, all of Monmouth. Also surviving are many great-grandchildren; Brittany Miller, Justin Ricco, Christopher Scanlan, Zach Williams, Nate Williams, Anthony (Jenna) Miller, Rachel Williams, and Maddisyn Cook, as well as one great, great grandson, Ryan. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Betty Conard and Beverly Kimmitt, daughter-in-law Jill Morris, son-in-law Toby Stephenson, and granddaughter Tracey Williams. Services:A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 11:00 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. His family will be present from 10:00-11:00 am before the service to receive friends. Cremation is being accorded. Memorials may be left to the Autism and Asperger Syndrome Coalition of the USA or the American Cancer Society.
