Richard W. "Dick" Bigger, age 72, of Biggsville, Ill., passed away Thursday, July 30, 2009, at his residence in Biggsville. Dick was born on March 16, 1937, in Gladstone, Ill., the son of Samuel E. and Leota E. Dye Bigger. Dick was raised in the Gladstone area and attended Lynnville school, Gladstone Grade School and G. and O. High School. Dick married Dixie Lee Henshaw on August 24, 1956 in Biggsville. She survives. Dick began farming in Gladstone and farmed with Charles and John Allaman and Reed Beal. He worked for the Gladstone Twp. as a Road Maintenance worker. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, country and Blue Grass music. He loved his pets and mowing. Dick was a hard worker and a family man. Dick is survived by his wife Dixie Bigger of Biggsville, on daughter Carol Poncelow and Tim of Joy, Ill., two sons, Richard Bigger Jr. and Wendy of Gladstone, and Rick Bigger and Denise of Gladstone. Also surviving are five grandchildren Stephanie Reckers, Nick Bigger, Tanner Bigger, Amber Bigger and David Poncelow and one great granddaughter Shawna Schroder, two sisters, Maribeth Siler of Peoria, Ill. and Jane Weir of Gladstone and several nieces and nephews. Dick is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Ronald Bigger, three brother-in-laws, one niece and 2 nephews. Services:A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2009, at the Biggsville Cemetery. No visitation and calling hours are being planned by the family. A memorial fund is being established Henderson County Humane Society.
