Robert L. “Bobby” St. George, 83, of Galesburg, Illinois, died unexpectedly at home on Monday, January 26, 2026.

Bobby was born June 11, 1942, in Galesburg, the son of Richard L. and Elizabeth “Petie” V. (Harrison) St. George. He worked for Gunther Construction in Galesburg for over 20 years prior to retiring.

Bob proudly served in the United States Army with the 82nd Airborne from June 26, 1961, until he was honorably discharged on June 24, 1964.

Bobby married Rose Mary Smith on June 18, 1998, in East Galesburg, Illinois. She survives, along with his sons: Van (Kathy) Shipley of Galesburg, Chad (Dena) St. George of Galesburg, Mike (Cindy) Trione of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, and Terry (Jennifer) Hillman of Kansas City, Missouri; one brother, Artie (Sandy) St. George of Galesburg; one sister, Ginny Roberts of Galesburg; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Jake Shipley, Emma St. George, Joe (Arjay) Trione, Jake (Leslie) Trione, Michaela Trione, Lauryn Hillman, Jack Hillman, and Nicholas Hillman. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Missy McNamee and Dixie Quinn.

Bobby was a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He loved playing golf, spending time with his family, and being with his German Shepherds. He could often be found at Duffy’s having a drink and sitting at the gaming machines. Bobby will be long remembered for his quick wit and great sense of humor.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2026, at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Chaplain Jordan Knight officiating. Cremation will be accorded following services.
