Robert Eugene "Bob" McKee passed away on December 24, 2016. Bob was born on April 19, 1936 in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of Eugene S. and Mildred (Cummings) McKee. He is preceded in death by his son Mark R. McKee, his parents, wife Nancy Nevius McKee, and his sister, Marcia McKee Sedgwick. Bob is survived by step-daughter, Alison (Lance) Johnson and his nephew Kevin Sedgwick. Bob grew up in Monmouth, Illinois and attended Monmouth Public Schools. He graduated from Monmouth College where he belonged to the Theta Chi Fraternity. Bob was a member of the Blue Key and he lettered in football, basketball, baseball, and track. He was co-captain of the All Illinois College Grid Team in 1958. Bob entered the Monmouth College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1989 and the University of Wyoming Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013. Bob was drafted by the Baltimore Colts and had the great experience of professional football prior to attending the University of Wyoming Graduate School in Geology. While there, he served as a Graduate Assistant Football Coach under Bob Devaney for two years. Following graduate school, Bob was a geologist and continued as a geological consultant after retirement. While living in Gillette, he was a founder and board member of the 1st Guarantee Savings and Loan, and served on the board of the Wyoming National Bank. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, past President of the Gillette Rotary Club, as well as past President of the Cowboy Joe Club at the University of Wyoming. He was appointed by the Governor of the State of Wyoming to the Advisory Board of the Professional Geologists of Wyoming. He was a 50 plus year members of the Wyoming Geological Association and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. Bob traveled to Hawaii, Mexico, Europe, Panama, Russia, and Alaska. On April 22, 1974, he achieved the elusive "Hole-in-One" at the Gillette Country Club. Memorial Service A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. A memorial fund is being established for Athletics at Monmouth College. Interment will be next to his parents at Monmouth Cemetery.
