Robert Lee Morris, 83, of Wataga, Illinois, died at 2:33 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2025 in the emergency room at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, Illinois.

Bob was born May 3, 1942 in Frederick, Illinois, the son of Merle Melvin and Leona (Hedden) Morris. Bob entered the US Army on July 29, 1960. He was honorably discharged on July 31, 1963. He married Charlene Rictor on May 25, 1964 in Havana, Illinois.

Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Charlene of Wataga, Illinois; three sons, Robert (Kim) Morris of Herman, Illinois, Charles (Lisa) Morris of Peoria, Illinois, and Garrett Morris of Peoria, Illinois. He is also survived by six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one sister, Annabelle Smith of Lewistown, Illinois. Along with his parents, Bob was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Bob worked at Gates Rubber Co. in Galesburg for 37 years, prior to retiring. He was an active member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, serving on the playground committee for many years, as well as being an active member of Father J.O. Hunt Knights of Columbus Council 556 where he volunteered many hours cooking for different events. As a proud veteran Bob enjoyed collecting US Army memorabilia and Bald Eagle items. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and watching Pittsburgh Steelers Football.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at Easton Cemetery in Easton, Illinois. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be directed to Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
