Robert L. Overstreet

Robert Lee Overstreet, age 85 of Summerville, South Carolina, formerly of Monmouth, Illinois, passed April 27 2014. He passed away peacefully at home with family by his side. He was born in Raritan, Illinois on January 26, 1929 to Lester Esley and Elizabeth Ann McElroy Overstreet. He completed 8th grade education and then worked the family farm after the untimely death of his father. Robert married Patricia Ann Yarde on October 9th, 1952 in Monmouth, Illinois. She preceded him in death on August 22, 1984. He worked at Midwest manufacturing, Admirals and Maytag, all in Galesburg, IL. He retired in 1987 and enjoyed a long and happy retirement with his family and friends. What he was most proud of, was all of his daughters, son-in-laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren and their many achievements in life. Robert decided to move to Summerville, South Carolina in February of 2013 to live with his daughter and son-in-law. His favorite hobby was bird watching and he thoroughly enjoyed them every day with the many bird feeders he had in place. Robert is preceded by his wife, parents, six brothers, and one sister. Robert Overstreet is survived by his daughters and son-in-laws; Nancy Jane Williams and Ron of Logansport, Indiana, Cynthia Kay Reyburn and James of Summerville, South Carolina, Christina Marie Fredrickson and Matt of Alexis Illinois and Robin Renee Abbott and Mike of Monmouth, Illinois. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. Services:A graveside service is planned by his family on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 10:00 am at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery in Monmouth. His family plans visitation on Friday evening being present to receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. In Lieu of Flowers a memorial fund is being established for the Heart and Lung Association and may be left at the funeral home.
