Robert J. Young

Robert J. Young, age 78, formerly of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 2:15 am at the Country View Care Center in Macomb, IL on May 9, 2016. Robert was born on February 19, 1938 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the son of Joseph Thomas and Elvena Elizabeth Erickson Young. He was raised in Monmouth where he attended local schools and was a 1956 graduated of Monmouth High School. Robert could be called a "Jack of All Trades" and a " Handy Man "He was employed for twenty-three years in the Gamble Skogmo warehouse located here in Monmouth, Illinois. He loved woodworking and owned and operated Young's Furniture Repair of Monmouth, Illinois. Over the years he has held various jobs and the last eight years were spent at Kistler and Company, also of Monmouth. He was quite good at drafting and design for many things. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Young (Phillip Hope) of Spokane, Washington and his sister, Sally Hoherd (Bob) of Monrovia, California. He is preceded in his death by his parents and one son, John Robert Young in 2009. Memorial Service Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service is planned for Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Monmouth Park to see a newly planted tree at the Park's North entrance. Refreshments will be served.
