Rodney A. Flaherty

Rodney A. Flaherty, 66, of Galesburg, passed away at home on February 5, 2021. Rodney was born on September 3, 1954 in Galesburg, the son of John and Ethel (Carlson) Flaherty. A kind and brilliant man, Rodney worked for more than 40 years at the Galesburg Register-Mail, where his work ethic and devotion made him a valued member of the company. A 1976 graduate of Knox College, he had a lifelong interest in astronomy and natural sciences and was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. He is survived by his brother Michael, of Tarpon Springs, Florida, and by three nephews and several grandnieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother John, of Henderson, Nevada and niece Amy Flaherty of Henderson, Nevada.   A private interment ceremony for family will be held in April. The family will also be attending mass on Saturday, April 17th at 4:00 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Galesburg, IL followed by dinner at 6pm at Prairie Street Pasta.
