Roger D. Brewer, age 54, of Monmouth; passed away at 4:00 am at Monmouth Nursing Home on July 22, 2010 at 4:00 am. He was born on October 14, 1955 in Mountain View, Arkansas and is the son of Lonnie and Mary I Looney Brewer. He was raised in Monmouth where he attended local schools and graduated with the class of 1973. Roger was married to Defrance I. Shawgo on October 19, 1973 in Monmouth, Illinois and she is surviving. Roger was one of the first employees of "Alfano's " Pizza when they came to town locating on West Broadway. He later was employed at Western Stoneware and then at Glastex, and then at Well's Pet Food, all in Monmouth. He lastly was employed at Maytag in Galesburg for a time. Roger loved his family and friends. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Cub fan and enjoyed country music. He also enjoyed fishing and camping. Surviving Roger is his wife Defrance Brewer of Monmouth, Illinois. One daughter Kimberly Jo Brewer Carlson of Macomb, Illinois and one son Justin Dale Brewer of Monmouth. His mother survives, Mary Irene Miller of Monmouth, and three nieces Sarah Bjorling of Oneida, IL; Lesley Dawn Brewer in Alexis, IL; and Melissa ( Aaron) Struble in Aledo, IL. Two nephews, Michael Dwane Brewer of rural Monmouth and Corey Bjorling in Oneida, and great nephew Joshua Struble in Aledo, Illinois. His cousins, Shirley Taylor Day of Springfield, IL and Sharon Kay (Rick) Weaver of Springfield,IL survive. He is survived also by his special friend Beverly Jones and her family. Preceding Roger in his death are his grandparents, his father Lonnie, twin brothers Hubert Dwane and Herbert Wayne Brewer, father in law David Shawgo and step father Finley Miller. Services:A funeral service is planned at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth on Tuesday July 27, 2010 at 2:00 pm. His family plans to receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Interment will be in the Monmouth Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for Huntington's Chorea Disease.
