Rolland E. Yocum

Rolland E. "Ron" Yocum, age 70, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at St.Francis Medical Center in Greenwood, IN on January 10, 2013. Ron was born on December 22, 1942 in Peoria, Illinois and is the son of Charles L. and Minnie M. (Nelson) Yocum. Ron graduated from Woodland High School in Streator, Illinois with the class of 1960. After high school Ron attended Brown's Business College in Galesburg, Illinois. He was married to Carol B. Stivers on March 17, 1963 in Monmouth, Illinois. Ron was employed with many companies, Sears, Munson Transportation and Caterpillar to name a few. His last employment was in logistics for Caterpillar in Morton, IL until his retirement in 2011. Ron was a member of the First Christian Church. Ron loved Golf at Gibson Woods in Monmouth, bowling, playing pool, traveling (his favorite the ocean), music and sports of all kinds, and most of all fun with his friends and family. He is survived by his wife Carol B. Yocum of Monmouth and one daughter Shelle (Bill) Cline of Shelbyville, IN and one granddaughter Kelsey Cline also in Shelbyville, IN. Also surviving are one sister-in-law Doris (Stivers) Axline, Marshalltown, IA and one brother-in-law Bob (Diana) Stivers, St. Paul, MN. along with several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Charles Leo Jr. and Delbert, four sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law. Services:A memorial service is planned on Saturday January 19, 2013 at 10:30 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. His family plans visitation on Saturday morning prior to the funeral service, receiving friends from 9:00 to 10:30 am. Cremation is being accorded in Indiana. A memorial fund is being established for the burn center of University Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa.
