Ronald E. Barnett

Ronald E. "Ron" Barnett, age 68, of Kirkwood, Illinois passed away at OSF St.Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL at 8:01 PM on Monday, January 30, 2017. He was born on October 27, 1948 in Pleasant Plains, Illinois, the son of Thelbert O. and Fannie L. (Copley) Barnett. Ron attended schools in Kirkwood and graduated from Yorkwood High School with the Class of 1966. Ron proudly served his Country serving in the United States Army. While enlisted, he was stationed in Germany and stateside. Ron began work at Admiral Corp. in Galesburg. He later worked in security at Mariah Foods in Monmouth and retired from Farm King in Monmouth, where he managed the lawn and garden department for many years. Ron enjoyed coaching Lions League in Kirkwood, grilling food, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. Ron is survived by one son, Drew (Francesca Knuth) Barnett of Kirkwood, IL, one daughter, Tiffany (Owen) Hollis of Kirkwood, IL, two granddaughters, one sister, Thelma Crandall of Kirkwood, IL, and one niece and one nephew. He is preceded in death by his parents. Visitation His family plans to receive friends from 10:00-11:00 prior to the service at the funeral home. Funeral Service A funeral service is planned for 11:00 AM on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment with Military Honors will be a Center Grove Cemetery in Kirkwood, Illinois. A memorial fund is being established for the DuWayne Brooks Music Festival.
