Ronald Howard Coons, age 75, passed away unexpectedly on November 19, 2014 at his home. He was born January 22, 1939 in Monmouth, the son of Rosetta (Goodwin) and Lee Coons. Ron, or "Ronnie" as many knew him, grew up on the family farm south of Roseville and attended Roseville schools, graduating from Roseville High School in 1956. Ron worked with his father on the family farm, worked in real estate and was a licensed auctioneer for many years. He also helped his mother manage the "Mary-Rose Market" in Monmouth until 1999, after which he became active in farmer's markets, selling produce. He directed the Macomb Farmer's Market for several seasons, was a vendor in the Spoon River Drive, and his Christmas decorations, grave decorations and trees could be seen around Warren and McDonough Counties each December. He enjoyed meeting people, having conversations, exploring for antiques and collectibles, and farming. Ron was a hard-working person who never did retire, working until his death. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, his daughter Raney Good (Steve) of Sugar Grove, his son, Aaron of Morongo Valley, CA, and two grandsons, Dylan and Spencer Good. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents. Ronnie was always growing food and helping people have access to good food. He would often contribute food from his Farmer's Market Booth to local food pantries. Services:Cremation has been accorded and the interment will be held privately at a later date. No viewing and funeral service is currently planned.
