Ronald L. Mullen

Ronald L. Mullen, Sr., age 66, of Kirkwood, Illinois, passed away at 3:53 a.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2009, at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, Illinois. Ronald was born on December 12, 1942, in Keokuk, Iowa the son of George L. and Clarice Wilsey Mullen. He was reared in Smithshire and graduated from Media High School in 1960. Ronald married Sandy K. Lee on September 20,1963, she survives. Ronald first worked at the family scrap yard in Smithshire for a time. He then drove a semi for Case Company in Burlington, Barrnunn, Pyles Trucking, and most recently driving for Sprout Farms in Roseville. Ronald loved NASCAR and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving Ronald is his wife Sandy Mullen of Kirkwood, one daughter, Laura Mettler and Mark of Kirkwood, and one son, Ron Mullen, Jr., of Virginia. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Courtney Mullen of Monmouth, and Dakota Mettler of Kirkwood, his mother, Clarice Howard of Keokuk, Iowa, three sisters; Carolyn Buckley and Forrest of Bettendorf, Iowa, Kathy Michl and John of Keokuk, Iowa, Dee Dee Little and Jeff of Luray, Missouri, and one brother, Doug McAdams and Ginni of Montrose, Iowa, numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Preceding him in death are his grandparents and parents. Services:A gathering of family and friends will be on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, from 5-7 p.m., at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Cremation will be accorded and no funeral service is planned at this time. A memorial fund is being established. Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
