Ronald C. "Ron" Brough

Ronald C. "Ron" Brough, age 65, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 1:30 A.M. on Friday, May 25, 2018 at his residence in Monmouth. He was born on August 18, 1952 in DesMoines, Iowa, the son of Clyde Burton and Madeline Louise (Nordquist) Brough. Ron attended school in DesMoines and graduated from Valley High School with the class of 1970. He then attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he obtained a degree in Floriculture. While in college, Ron met Jeannette Vargason and they were married on March 4, 1972 at the First Lutheran Church in Monmouth, Illinois. Ron worked at many floral shops in the area. He worked at Maytag/Admiral in Galesburg for thirty years. Ron also worked with the lunch programs at local schools. He loved working with flowers and helping with the weddings of his co-workers, working with Trick or Treat for Charity, visiting and giving Communion to fellow Church members, traveling, Scrabble, Skipbo Crosswords, and watching movies. He was also an animal lover, artist, and amateur cook; competing in the Prime Beef Cook Off. Ron was active in his Church as a Sunday School Teacher and Elder of the Cameron Christian Church. He worked with the Art Presenter Program and was a Boy Scout Leader/Elder in Cameron. Most of all, he was loved by his family for his great sense of humor. Ron is survived by his wife Jeannette of Monmouth, IL, one daughter, Jennifer (Shawn) Admire of Monmouth, IL, one son, Jeremy Brough of Monmouth, IL, and three grandsons; Dakota, Skylar and Tristin Admire. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Cheryl Lynn Lee. A memorial service is planned for 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Cameron Christian Church in Cameron, Illinois. Visitation is planned from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. As were Ron's wishes, cremation is being accorded. A memorial fund is being established for the Cameron Christian Church.
