Ronald D. Shawler

Ronald D. Shawler, age 81, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 12:05 am on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Ronald was born on September 4. 1934 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the son of Melbern and Gladys Brooks Shawler. He attended rural schools of Warren County and graduated from Monmouth High School with the class of 1952. He has farmed his entire life in Warren County in Grain and Livestock in both the Phelps Community and in Monmouth. Ron was married to Cassandra Elizabeth on September 9, 1972 in Fairview Center near Monmouth and she preceded him in death on February 16, 2014. He moved to Monmouth a number of years ago. Ronald farmed the family farm during his lifetime and later has been working with Brian and Brad Clark in their farming operations. He loved dogs and animals and mainly loved his cats. He is survived by a number of cousins locally. He would be preceded in his death by his parents and his wife. Memorial Service As per his request cremation has been accorded and no formal services are planned at present. Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth is in charge of the local arrangements. A memorial fund is being established for either Western Illinois Animal Rescue or Jamieson Community Center.
