Rosemary Shunick, age 88, of Monmouth, Ill., passed away at 12:10 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2009, at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth. Rosemary was born on July 21, 1920, in rural Monmouth, the daughter of Richard and Sadie Shunick. Rosemary attended Immaculate Conception School and Monmouth High School. Rosemary was first employed at Wirtz Book Store. In early 1970's she started working at Federal Land Bank in Monmouth until retiring in 1985. Rosemary was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, a charter member of Immaculate Conception Legion of Mary, Immaculate Conception Altar and Rosary Society and Rose Hawthorne Book Club. Rosemary is survived by her brother Richard (Marjorie Ann) Shunick of Scottsdale, AZ, sister Sr. Veronica Shunick OSB of Rock Island, Ill., sister-in-law Liane Shunick of Lake Warren, Nephews, Greg (Connie) Cofield of Parker, CO. Joseph (Julie) Cofield of Needham, MA., Philip (Wendy) Cofield of Salt Lake City, UT, Richard Shunick of Chicago, IL., Michael Shunick of Tucson, AZ, David, Mark, Brian, and John Shunick all of Phoenix, AZ Nieces Julie (Tom) Brown of Dallas, TX, Rosemary (Jeff) Freel of Altoona, IA, Sheila (Michael ) Burton of Webster Groves, MO., great nephews, Jason Cofield of Brooklyn, NY, Justin and Drew Cofield of Boston, MA, Jonathan Freel of Altoona, IA, Thomas Burton of Webster Groves, MO and Brandon Brown of Dallas, TX great nieces, Jennifer Cofield of Oakland, CA, Calla and Megan Cofield of Salt Lake, UT, Allison Freel of DesMoines, IA, Molly and Caroline Burton of Webster Groves, MO, and Erin Brown of New York, NY. Rosemary is preceded in her death by her parents, two sisters Sr.Bernadette Shunick, OSB and Vera Cofield; one brother Thomas J. Shunick, her brother in law Earl C. Cofield, and her great nephew Richard Brown. Services:Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 9:00 am, Friday, February 6, 2009, at Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Monmouth. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 pm on Thursday evening at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. A memorial fund is being established for the endowment fund of Immaculated Conception School.
