Roy L. Myers, age 82, of Brashere, Missouri passed away at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri on August 13, 2012. Roy was born on April 3, 1930 in Blandinsville, Illinois and is the son of James Albert and Ruby Combites Myers. He was raised in Henderson County where he attended Henderson County schools. He was married to Ruth Marcelene McConnell on September 22, 1947 in Biggsville, Illinois and she preceded him in death in October of 2011 after 64 years of marriage. Roy and Ruth spent most of their married life in Henderson County. He was employed by J.I.Case in Burlington, Iowa until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 807. He moved to Brashere in 2006. Roy is survived by one daughter Barbara (Tony) Huttenstine of Queen City, Missouri, two sons Roy "Buck" Myers Jr. (Theresa) and Rick Myers, both of Oquawka, Illinois. There are six grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren surviving. Two brothers also survive, Jim (Pauline) Myers and Donnie (Barbara) Myers, both of Aledo, Illinois and three sisters, Jeanie (Bill) Leonard of Biggsville, Illinois, Evelyn (fiance Jon Dawdy) of Oquawka, Illinois, and Mary Lou (Delbert) Dillon of Jacksonville, Arkansas. He is preceded in his death by his parents, wife, and two brothers, Ora and Allen Myers. Visitation in Missouri will be on Thursday evening August 16th at the Dooley Funeral Home in Queen City from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. He then will be returned to Oquawka, Illinois and the Turnbull Funeral Home where visitation will be on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. No other services are currently planned and cremation will then be accorded. Local arrangements are be handled through the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka.
