Ruby J. Carlberg, age 78, of Knoxville, Illinois, formerly of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at 9:35 a.m. on October 26th at her residence in Knoxville, Illinois. Ruby was born November 12, 1933 in Keithsburg, Illinois and is the daughter of James Harrison and Gladys A. Stewart Ortery. Ruby was raised in Keithsburg where she attended local schools and graduated from G&O High School. Ruby was first married to William Richardson on February 23, 1952 in Monmouth, Illinois. She was later married to William Carlberg on January 20, 1990 in Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her on April 7, 1997. Ruby first worked as a cook at several area restaurants and then was employed at Wilson Foods in Monmouth, for ten years. Lastly she worked as an inspector at LaMont, Ltd. in Burlington, Iowa until her retirement in April 1996. She currently is a member of Colonial Baptist Church of Galesburg, IL Her greatest love was her family and grandchildren and especially her granddog "Skeeter". Surviving are four sons Steve Richardson of Tampa, FL; Randy (Bonnie) Richardson of Rockford, IL; Roger (Debbie) Richardson of Dickson, TN; and Mark (Debbie) Richardson of Fountain, CO. One daughter is surviving, Donna (Rick) Collinson of Knoxville, IL. There are 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren surviving. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and one grandson. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday October 31, 2012 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Visitation with the family present will be on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Oquawka Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for Colonial Baptist Church in Galesburg, Illinois.
