Ruby M. Robbins

Ruby M. Robbins, age 80, of Oquawka, passed away at 12:12 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth. She was born on September 6, 1928 in Henderson County, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Gladys Meyer Morris. She was reared and educated in Oquawka and graduated from Oquawka High School in 1946. Ruby married Melvin H. Robbins on February 11, 1947 in Gladstone, Illinois, he preceded her in death on January 28, 1991. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing bingo, reading, cooking, and cake decorating. She was a member of the Oquawka United Methodist Church. Surviving Ruby are two sons; Frank Robbins and Tom Robbins both of Oquawka, eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Elizabeth White of Monmouth, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, David, and two sisters, Mary Sargent and Betty Robbins. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday June 27, 2009, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka. Interment will be in Oquawka Cemetery. Her family will be present to receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, at Turnbulls in Oquawka. A memorial fund has been established for the Oquawka United Methodist Church.
