Russell C. Jones

Russell C. Jones, age 95, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at Monmouth Nursing Home on November 16, 2012 at 5:00 pm. Russell was born on May 2, 1917 in Mayfield, Kentucky, and is the son of Cecil R. and Lillian M Hooper Jones. He was raised in Lowes, Kentucky and moved to Oxly, Missouri in Riply County when he was twelve years old. Russell married Bonnie Berniece Kick on February 25, 1939 in Oxly, Missouri. She preceded him in death on November 7, 2011. Russell was a farmer in grain and livestock throughout all of his career. He moved to the Rozetta area in 1943 and has farmed there for Faye Houtchens for over twenty years. He was a devoted family man and a member of the Rozetta Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. More recently they sold the farm and moved to Monmouth where they resided since 1968. Surviving is one daughter Carol McNitt of Oquawka, Illinois and one son Russell L. Jones also of Oquawka. There are eleven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Russell is preceded in his death by his parents, two sons Ron and Roger, his grandson Joshua, one brother, and one sister. Services:A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Friday November 23, 2012 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. His family plans visitation with the family present from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to the service Friday. Interment will be in the Monmouth Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for his church Rozetta Baptist Church.
