Ruth A. Odendahl

Ruth Ann Odendahl, age 88, passed away October 14, 2010 at Monmouth Nursing Home. A lifelong resident of Western Illinois, she lived the past 25 years in Monmouth. Ruth was born March 4, 1922 in Moline, Illinois and is the daughter of John and Eleanor Carlson. She graduated from Moline High School, and while there, met her future husband, Richard, who preceded her in death. They owned a farm in East Moline and raised two children. Later they sold that farm and purchased another in Warren County. Ruth was a member of First Lutheran Church in Monmouth. Ruth enjoyed church circles, sometimes making quilts for world relief organizations, or as a well regarded cook, she provided her baked goods for church events. Another hobby she enjoyed was flower gardening. Surviving her is a daughter, Marsha Rempe of Waukesha, Wisconsin and her son, Fred (Sharon) Odendahl of Cuba, Illinois. Grandchildren survive, Ann (jeff) Grove of Louisville, KY; Carl Odendahl of Boynton Beach, FL; Mark (Jenn) Odendahl of Chatham, NJ; Kira (Carlos) Obrador of Del Rio, TX; Karla (Joe) Sweeney of Berlin, Germany; Kurt Rempe of Washington, DC; and Krista Rempe of Waukesha, WI. Great Grandchildren survive, Nicolas Grove, Luke Odendahl, Connor Odendahl, Eva and Pia Obrador. Surviving also is a sister in law, Betty Carlson of Geneseo, Illinois. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, and her brothers and sisters. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Saturday October 23, 2010 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, IL. Her family plans visitation for an hour prior to the service receiving friends at the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30 am Saturday. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery. A memorial fund is established for First Lutheran Church of Monmouth, Illinois.
