Samuel H. Johnson, II, age 58, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 12:30 am at OSF Holy Family Medical Center ER on February 6, 2013. "Sammy" was born on August 10, 1954 in Galesburg, Illinois and is the son of Samuel H. and Inez Stewart Johnson. He was raised in Galesburg, where he attended public schools and later attained his G. E. D. Sam worked initially as a concrete worker and mason, for Ryder Manufacturing in Burlington, Iowa. After that he was employed for a number of years at Farmland Foods in Monmouth, Illinois. Terrance often filled in as drummer for the popular blues band known as "The Brooks Brothers. Sam is survived by his long-time girl friend, Margaret Logsdon of Monmouth, IL and two daughters Samantha Carrell of Fort Walton Beach, FL.and Crissy Johnson of Bloomington, IL.; three sons Terrance and Tanner Johnson, both of Monmouth, Illinois and Shawn Johnson of Burlington, IA. Two step daughters, Megan (Matthew) Shughart and Kayla (Joseph) Engle, both of Monmouth, IL. There are five grandchildren and four step grandchildren. One brother survives, Joey Kimbrough and one sister Ellen Johnson of Dubuque, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents, and on brother Eric. Services:A funeral service will be on Wednesday February 13, 2013 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois at 11:00 am. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg, Illinois. His family plans visitation with the family present at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A memorial fund is being established to purchase Sam's headstone after his burial.
