Sandra Guthrie

Sandra K. Guthrie, age 68, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at 9:41 p.m., Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Sandra was born on May 18, 1940 in Oquawka, Illinois. She is the daughter of Raleigh Patrick and Gladys Mae Murphy McDavid. She was raised in Oquawka and graduated from G & O High School in 1958. She married John T. Guthrie on May 4, 1968 in Monmouth, Illinois. Sandra is a member of the Oquawka United Methodist Church. Sandra was a sales professional for Home Interiors and Gifts for more than thirty years. She also previously managed the Scholtzhauer Home in Oquawka, Illinois for fifteen years. Sandra has served on the Village Board as Trustee in Oquawka. She enjoyed traveling and her family was her main interest. Sandra is survived by her husband John T. Guthrie of Oquawka, Illinois Two Sons Jim Stivers of Vernon Hills, Illinois and Kyle (Erin) Guthrie of Leslie, Michigan. Her Daughter Pati Langer of Burlington, Iowa. Surviving Grandchildren include Tiffany Langer of Burlington, Iowa; Ryan & Steven Stivers of Mundelein, Illinois; Patrick, Ethan, Logan & Eve Guthrie of Leslie, Michigan. Her surviving sisters are Glenna Walsh and Bernice Tennant both of Oquawka, Illinois. A number of Nieces and Nephews also survive Sandra. Preceding Sandra in death are her Parents and one sister Gale Brown. Services:A funeral service for Sandra is planned on Saturday September 6, 2008 at 10:00 am at the Oquawka United Methodist Church in Oquawka, Illinois. Her family plans to receive friends at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Interment will be in the Oquawka Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established.
