Sandra L. Townsend

Sandra Lea Townsend, 65, of Galesburg, Illinois, died peacefully at 2:22 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2025, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Peoria, Illinois.

Sandi as she was known, was born to Richard Vernon and Carol Lea (Vellmer) Townsend on March 14, 1960, in Germany where her father was stationed during his time in the U.S. Army.

Sandi is survived by one son, Mickey (Angie) Durham of Bonham, Texas; one daughter, Jessica Spinks of Peoria, Illinois; one stepson, Daniel Spinks of Galesburg; one stepdaughter, Tonya Spinks of Galesburg; several grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. Sandi is also survived by two brothers, Richard (Sandra) Townsend of Royse City, Texas and Jeffrey (Dorothea) Townsend of Lubbock, Texas; and one sister, Tamara Coleman of Forney, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Keith LeDuke.

Sandi worked for many years in healthcare, most of them in home health. She loved being outdoors, whether it was camping, being at the ocean or swimming.

Cremation will be accorded. No services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
