Shantah L. Campbell

Shantah L. Campbell, 51, of Galesburg, passed away peacefully at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

He was born February 8, 1974 in Moline, Illinois, the son of William Hoskins and Sharon Campbell. Shantah graduated from Galesburg High School in 1992 and later attended Carl Sandburg College. He dedicated over 20 years working at Dick Blick in Galesburg.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Tatiana Campbell of Galesburg; three sons: Devontre Campbell, Tayshaun Campbell, and Kolten Campbell, all of Galesburg; four grandchildren: Gabriella, Taliyah, Zayden, and Novalynn; and his godchild, Jaylah Shante’ Walker. Shantah is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Sharon (Moses) Joubert of Sunset, Louisiana; his father, William Hoskins of Iowa; four sisters: Deanne (Ronald) Simmons of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Tamara Campbell of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Dana Joubert of Sunset, Louisiana, and Shamesha (Lionel) Walker of Denham Springs, Louisiana; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his significant other of over 30 years, Jaymie Kilpatrick; one brother, Kevin Campbell; his maternal grandparents, Beulah and Robert Campbell; his aunt (bonus mom), Darlene Campbell; and his best friend, TJ Pendleton.

An avid basketball and football fan, he enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams the Chicago Bulls and Chicago Bears. Shantah loved to cook, grill, and listen to music. Most of all, Shantah treasured his role as being a grandpa and cherished countless hours spending time with people he loved most, his family.

Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 2025 at the Thomas Legacy Center at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
