Sharon R. Mcdonald

Sharon R. McDonald, age 72, of Kirkwood, passed away at 10:03 p.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth. Sharon was born on April 2, 1939 in Mendon, Ill., she is the daughter of Everett and Virginia June Andrews Stansbery. She was reared and educated in Mendon and attended Mendon schools. Sharon married Richard R."Dick" McDonald on August 20, 1962 in Quincy, Ill., he survives. Sharon worked as a school bus driver for the United School District, and was an "over the road" truck driver for Munson Transportation. She also worked as a sales associate at Shopko in Monmouth. Sharon served as the President of the Kirkwood Park Board. She loved to ride and took care of horses with her father together winning many trophies and ribbons. Sharon also cared for many foster children over the years. Sharon loved to go to bingo. She is survived by her husband Richard McDonald of Kirkwood, four sons; Clifford L. McDonald (Sherry), Micheal L. McDonald (Candie), Randall D. McDonald and Rodney W. McDonald (Pamela) all of Kirkwood, Ill. Nine grandsons; William McDonald, Joshua McDonald, Jacob McDonald, James Dodds, Justin McDonald, David McDonald, Aaron McDonald, Mitchell McDonald, Micheal Osborn, and six granddaughters; Janelle McDonald, Melissa McDonald, Kim Damewood, Jennifer McDonald, Renee McDonald, and Becky Elliott. There are four great granddaughters surviving. Sharon is preceded in death by here parents, one daughter Kathy Jo (Randy) Barton, and two brothers. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday December 6, 2011 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment is to be in Center Grove Cemetery of Kirkwood, Illinois. Her family plans to receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, IL. On Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A memorial fund is being established by her family and will be established at a later date.
