Shaundra Louise Miller, 56, of Galesburg, passed away Friday, May 30, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. Born on October 31, 1968, Shaundra lived a life rich with love, laughter, and the joys of family. She was the daughter of Unree and Jeanette (Dilworth) Moultrie, II.
After graduating from high school in 1985, Shaundra completed her certified nursing training at the age of 17. She dedicated almost 40 years of her life being a caregiver, working as a CNA at many local facilities over the years. Shaundra also found a passion for serving as a personal assistant for those in need. In 1989, she married William E. Miller in Rock Island. Together they had their first born and later divorced but remained friends. He preceded her in death on December 2, 2024.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Bianca Louise Miller and Yvonne Louise Mixon, both of Galesburg; five grandchildren: Wiliam Grant IV, Jaxson Carter Lynch, Braylon LaSean Lynch, Miyani Grace Chalk, and Miyon Legacy Chalk; and her lifetime special friend, Karl Mixon of Galesburg, and Tammie Blickem of Wataga. Shaundra is also survived by four siblings: Unree Moultrie, III of Pontiac, Illinois, Latoya (Terry L.) Ferguson of Galesburg, Stanley Charles Moultrie of Galesburg, and Chariot Louise Campbell of Galesburg; She had a strong bond with a nephew, Kevin Edward Mitchell, Jr. of Italy; and two nieces, Latrece Louise Mitchell of Galesburg, and Lucero Louise Gonzalez of Peoria & 10 more nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one aunt, Mary Lou Dilworth.
Shaundra cherished every moment spent playing with her grandkids, creating memories that will forever hold a special place in their hearts. Her captivating warmth extended to all her family, and she made it a priority to spend quality time with her loved ones. She found happiness in singing and dancing. Shaundra also enjoyed riding her bike, gardening, and fishing. She had a knack for finding hidden treasures during her trips to yard sales. Shaundra was of the Christian faith.
Throughout her life, she was known for her selflessness and her unwavering devotion to caring for others. Shaundra was a pillar of support for many, always ready with a listening ear or a helping hand. Her legacy will be remembered by those whose lives she touched, as she exemplified kindness, love, and compassion in everything she did. Shaundra will be deeply missed.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory in Galesburg. Rev. Tyson Parks, III will officiate. Cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
