Sherry L. Ekstrom

Sherry L. Ekstrom, age 63, of Oquawka, passed away at 6:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at her home. She was born on April 24, 1948 in Monmouth, Ill., and is the daughter of Blaine and Mildred Hewitt Barr. She was reared and educated in rural Monmouth and graduated from Yorkwood High School. Sherry married Larry Ekstrom on July 21, 1973 in Roseville, Ill., he survives. Sherry worked for a number of years at the Courthouse in Henderson County in the County Treasurer's office. She was an avid New Orleans Saints and St. Louis Cardinals Fan. Sherry is survived by her husband, Larry Ekstrom of Oquawka, her mother Mildred Crookham of Oquawka, two brothers; Terry Barr (Jeanne) of Roseville, Ill., and Greg Barr (Wendy) of Wilmington, Nc.. Also surviving is her faith dog and companion, Sadie, and numerous nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her father, one brother Rollie Barr, one sister Linda Barr, and one nephew Brad Barr. Services:Cremation has been accorded. No service is being planed at this time. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date.
