Sheryl D. Lucas, age 72, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 9:40 am on January 4, 2016 at her rural Monmouth residence. Sheryl was born on October 7, 1943 in Monmouth, IL and is the daughter of James W. and Mildred B. Yeager Romine. Sheryl was raised in Monmouth, where she attended local schools and graduated from Monmouth High School with the class of 1961. Sheryl was first married to Charles Ronald Jones in the early 1960s in Rozetta, Illinois. Ron passed away on March 21, 1976. She later married J. Lee Lucas on January 20, 1979 in Monmouth, Illinois. He is currently surviving. Sheryl began work at the The Model / Her Closet as a sales clerk for a number of years. Sheryl then was employed by the Phone Set Shop of Monmouth as a sales clerk for a number of years. Sheryl greatly appreciated the finer arts and also most enjoyed her flowers and her garden. She enjoyed traveling and her family and friends were her greatest joy. She also was a member of the Buchanan Center for the Arts in Monmouth, the Galesburg Civic Art League, and the Warren County Historical Society. She is survived by her husband J. Lee Lucas of Monmouth, Illinois and two sons, Tracy W. Jones (Tracy) of Little York, Illinois and Tim A. Jones of Muelheim, Germany. There are three grandchildren; Josh, Kenny and Jeremy. Three sisters survive, Connie Christofferson of Burlington, Iowa, Carol Stine of Kirkwood, Illinois, Nancy Wicks of St. Elizabeth, Missouri and one brother, James W. Romine of Davenport, Iowa. She is preceded in her death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister. Visitation Her family plans a visitation and will receive their friends on Thursday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Graveside Service A graveside funeral service will be on at 10:30 am on Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Mosher Cemetery near Monmouth, Illinois. A memorial fund is being established for the Buchanan Center for the Arts in Monmouth, Illinois.
