Shirley J. Fullerton

Shirley J. Fullerton, age 92, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 8:35 pm on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, Illinois, her family gathered around her. Shirley was born on June 21, 1925 and is the daughter of Lester L. and Eunice M. VanTine Smith. She was raised in Monmouth where she attended Garfield Elementary and graduated from Monmouth High School with the class of 1943. Shirley was married to Wendell Levine on September 9, 1944 at the Lutheran Church in Monmouth, and he preceded her in death. She was later married to Martin L. Neill on February 12, 1960 in the First United Methodist Church, also in Monmouth, IL. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1977. She later was married to Burt R. Fullerton on October 21, 1999 in Monmouth, IL and he preceded her in death on November 2, 2011. Shirley was employed for many years by the Mellinger Foundation in Monmouth. She then was employed by Dayton Fresh at the Fresh Realty for a number of years until she retired. She was a member of the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and had served on that board as Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer for four years. Shirley also had served as Escort Chairman and volunteered her time with the Auxiliary for many years. Shirley loved gardening, sewing, and quilting. She also loved art, drawing and painting. She is survived by her children, Wendy J. (Norman "Butch") Pinney, Linda L. (Randy) Seals, Richard S. (Kathy) Levine, and Mary L. (Angela Whetstine) Schuytema, all of Monmouth, Illinois, six grandchildren; Erin L. (Troy) Bennett, Emmery L. Schuytema, Eli G.Schuytema, Dr. Jason R. (Lori) Seals, Robert E. Pinney, Joshua R. (Abbie) Pinney, two step-grandchildren; Brian and Rob (Carrie) Armstrong, and seven great-grandchildren. A number of nieces and nephews are also surviving. Shirley is also survived by a dear friend Alice May. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husbands, her sister, Martha Hallam, and her brother Robert Smith. Visitation Her family plans to receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M. prior to the service at the funeral home. Funeral Service A funeral service is planned for 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, IL. Interment will be at Warren County Memorial Park. Memorials are being established for the First United Methodist Church or W.I.A.R. both in Monmouth, IL.
