Shirley B. Kick

Shirley B. Kick, age 83, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth on Monday November 5, 2012 at 5:30 am. Shirley was born on September 4, 1929 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the daughter of Chester L. and Mae Cawley Hallbick, Sr. She was raised in Monmouth where she attended Monmouth Schools. She was married to Kenneth D. Kick on March 6, 1950 in Reyno, Arkansas. He preceded her on December 12, 1992. Shirley first worked at Western Stoneware in Monmouth, Illinois for a number of years. She then worked for District 38 in the Monmouth School system in the kitchen as a baker. She is a member of First Christian Church in Monmouth, and served on their bereavement committee serving dinners after funeral services for many years. Shirley is survived by her nieces, Jan Currie of Galesburg, IL and Lorraine (Jerry) Oberhardt of East Moline, IL and two nephews Ron Hallbick of Galesburg, IL. and Larry (Jo) Bolender of Holland, MI. A number of great nieces and nephews also are surviving. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Jean Modglin and Jerry Bolender and brother Chet Hallbick, Jr. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Saturday November 10, 2012 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Her family plans to receive friends at Turnbulls on Saturday for the hour prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 am. A memorial fund is being established for the First Christian Church of Monmouth, Illinois.
