Shirley Jean Lox, age 92, of Oquawka, Illinois passed away at 5:56 A.M. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the Kline Center in Burlington, Iowa. Shirley was born on December 9, 1925 in Oquawka, Illinois and is the daughter of Doss and Elizabeth Simmons Hinshaw. She was raised in Oquawka, where she attended the Oquawka Schools. In 1946, Shirley married David L. "Bob" Lox in Kahoka, MO. and he preceded her in death in 1989. Shirley first worked for Lance Steele Dairy delivering milk for a number of years. She then was employed at the Christmas Tree Farm in Oquawka, and at Sylvania in Burlington, IA, and lastly was at the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant in Middletown, Iowa until her retirement. Shirley enjoyed going to Burlington to play Bingo, yard work in her garden, her dogs, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by four sons, Gary Lox (Marge) of Palacios, TX, Terry Lox (Vicki) of Oquawka, IL, Steve Lox (Brenda Keitzer) of Ashland City, TN, and Greg Lox (Tina) of Oquawka, IL, and one daughter, Judy Dillon of Tucson, AZ. There are 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Her sister, Delores "Poots" Olson of Oquawka, Illinois is also surviving. She is preceded in her death by her parents, one son, Eldon, three grandsons, Anthony, Jamie, and Eli, five brothers, and one sister. A graveside service is planned for 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 7, 2018 in the Oquawka Cemetery. Her family plans to be present for visitation from 10:00-11:00 A.M. prior to the service at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. A memorial fund is being established for the Kline Center in Burlington, Iowa or the Henderson County Humane Society.
